Young Artist Competition Soloist, Flute (1996)
Denise Gaz is a sophomore at Belmont High School, where she
participates in the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra.
This year, the band was the first public high school band invited
to play at the Salute to Symphony.
Denise is currently studying at the New England Conservatory
of Music, where she participates in the Senior Massachusetts
Youth Wind Ensemble. The group will tour Spain this Spring.
Denise has won several gold medals for her work in band and
chamber music at Massachusetts Instrumental Conductors
Association, and she was selected to play at the Northeastern
Junior and Senior District ensembles. In her freshman year, the
PTA chose her as the outstanding music student in her class.
Denise has studied with Sue Ellen Hershman and Nina Barwell.
She has also attended the Sourth Shore Music Conservatory under
the direction of Malcom Rowell. Denise aspires to become a
professional flute player.
Denise is the daughter of Randall and Jeanne Gaz and has three
sisters, Diana, Deborah, and Danielle.
