Composer
Born near Philadelphia in February 1928, Jenkins began composing short
pieces while in elementary school.
He studied composition and counterpoint with Vincent Persichetti while
studying law.
His formal musical training includes bachelor and master’s degrees from
the Eastman School of Music and the doctorate from the Catholic University of
America.
He served in the military on the arranging staff of the U.S. Army Field Band
and the Armed Forces Radio Network.
He continues to teach as Professor Emeritus at the Mary Pappert School of
Music of Duquesne University.
