professional singer and her father was a very accomplished
musician who played several instruments very well, although he
never played professionally. She started performing in amateur
shows by age ten, and began singing professionally at age
thirteen when her mother could not do a show and sent Linda in
her place. While she continued to sing professionally at many
clubs and function halls throughout New England, but on a
part-time basis while going to school, eventually becoming a
teacher. After a fifteen-year haitus spent raising a family and
teaching (at J.F.K. Middle School in Hudson, MA, where she was
known as Ms. Murtagh) she decided to perform again, joining the
Concord Band in 1996 for several well-received concerts.
Linda C. (Nigro) Murtagh, 61, a Hudson resident for 34 years,
died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, after a long battle with cancer.
