Young Artist Competition Soloist, Bass Trombone (1997)
Now completing her senior year at Lexington High School, bass
trombonist Linda Yeo has participated in Massachusetts Music
Educator’s Association Northeast District bands and orchestras
each year since 1992. She was a member of the Massachussetts
All-State Orchestra in 1995, 1996, and 1997. This past March she
performed in the 1997 Music Educator’s National Conference
All-Eastern Honors Orchestra in Baltimore, Maryland. At Lexington
High School, she has for the last four years been a member of the
wind ensemble, concert band, pep band, orchestra, jazz ensemble,
brass ensemble, and chorus.
Linda was a winner of the 1997 Lexington High School Orchestra
concerto competition and has also performed as a soloist with the
Lexington High School Wind Ensemble. In 1996, she participated in
the Second Annual Hamamatsu (Japan) Wind Instrument Academy and
Festival where whe was chosen as the only trombinist to perform
in the student solo debut concert.
With her musical family, which includes her parents and
younger sister (all brass players), Linda has performed brass
quartet concerts in many churches, camps, and schools. She was a
presenter at the 1996 Boston Music Education Collaborative
teacher in-service held at Tanglewood. Her teachers have included
her father, Boston Symphony Orchestra bass trombonist Douglas
Yeo, and Canadian trombone soloist Alain Trudel.
Linda has been accepted to the Wheaton College (IL)
Conservatory of Music where she will enroll as a bass trombone
performance major later this year.
