American Pageant(1973)Thomas Knox, composer Thomas Knox, chief composer-arranger of the Marine Band until his retirement in 1985, composed American Pageant for the inauguration of President Richard Nixon in 1973. This patriotic work has been performed at each subsequent inaugural. America, Yankee Doodle, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Dixie, America the Beautiful, and Columbia the Gem of the Ocean are melodies that all of us grew up with and are permanent reminders of our heritage. —WGM INDEX |
