Revised May 21, 2016
- Schedule:
Our Fruitlands concerts begin Thursday June 23 at 7:15 PM
and continue every Thursday evening until July 28.
In case of rain, the concert is canceled; there are no rain dates.
A separate information sheet for our annual social event, a concert and
picnic at the Boston Harbor Yacht Club on Sunday July 27 at 2 PM will be
distributed in the future.
- Please plan to arrive at Fruitlands by 7:00 at the latest.
We play at 7:15 PM sharp! (Better yet, 7:15 PM in tune...)
Gates open at 6 PM for picnicking.
- Weather cancellation:
A decision will be made by 4 PM.
Call the Band hotline (978-897-9969) or look for an email from Jim or
Charlie.
- Directions:
Fruitlands Museum is at 102 Prospect Hill Rd, Harvard, MA.
Take Route 2 to Exit 38A.
Head south on Route 110 and take your first right onto Old Shirley Road
(becomes Prospect Hill Rd.).
Museum is about 2 miles on the the right.
- Parking:
We park in the lower lot.
We do not have to pay a parking fee, tell the parking assistants that you
are with the Band.
We use the main entrance, not the one closer to Rt. 2 that we have used
in past years.
Please drive slowly and watch out for pedestrian traffic.
- Summer concert dress:
Concord Band polo shirts (white with red logo), black pants or skirts
(for women), black shoes and socks.
If you don’t have a CB polo shirt, wear a plain white shirt.
If you need to bring a sweater or jacket, try to bring one that’s
white or black.
- Bring your music!
If you bring only the music for each night’s concert, be sure to
include all the possible encores (check the sheets that Jim handed out).
- Bring wind clips
or clothes pins or plexiglass/plastic covers.
(The Band no longer supplies wind clips).
- Bring stands.
If you use folding metal stands, use your black folder for your music
(not a manila folder); it looks more professional.
- Bring bug repellant.
If you use spray, please do this only at a spot away from the stage, and
never spray during the concert on stage; some people are allergic to
spray toxins.
If you need to use bug repellant while on the stage, use a roll-on
variety or towelettes.
- During the concert, please do not make extraneous noise or talk
while on the music stage.
The sound system picks up every word — it can be embarrassing!
- Please do not move the microphones.
If they’re in your way, please ask our sound engineer, Jeff, to
move them.
- Bathrooms:
We can use the bathrooms in the building next to our parking lot.
There are also restrooms at the top of the hill in the main building
behind the restaurant.
- Absences:
As soon as you know you cannot attend a summer rehearsal or concert,
please inform Dave Tweed,
Personnel Manager,
or Jim O’Dell,
Music Director.
In an emergency or for very short notice, call Charlie on his cell or Jim.
If possible please get your folder to Linda, our librarian, in advance so
the music is available for substitutes.
- Help with the percussion equipment setup and breakdown
is always appreciated.
(Once the season starts, the equipment is stored behind the Fruitlands
stage.)
- Questions?
If you have any questions, please ask Jim or a Band Board member:
Dan Diamond, Liz Irvin, Becky Kung, Charlie Learoyd,
John Rabinowitz, Ken Troup, or Dave Tweed.
