The Concord Band will perform a free concert at Payson Park, Belmont on
Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 6:45 P.M. Several of the Concord Band's
outstanding soloists will be featured in the concert. Jennifer Garcia of
Hanscom AFB, Tom Taylor of Acton, and Nathan Finch of Medford will be
featured in the lively trumpet trio "Roller Coaster." Euphonium soloist
Eric Abis of Amherst, NH will perform "Rhapsody for Euphonium." Saxophone
soloist David Southard of Bedford will be in the spotlight for
"Persuasion." And trumpet soloist Ted Schmuhl of Falmouth will perform
the breathtaking "Concierto de Aranjuez." The Concord Band Dixieland band
will be front and center for "Dixieland Live!"ľa Dixieland piece
commissioned last year by the Concord Band. The concert play list will
also include popular patriotic tunes and the music of Richard

The Concord Band, founded in 1959, is one of the leading community
concert bands in the United States. It is well known for its innovative
programming and the exceptional quality of its commissioned pieces. It
presents both formal and Pops concerts throughout the year. Its summer
concerts at Fruitlands Museums in Harvard, Massachusetts, are attended by
more than 10,000 people each year. The band's Music Director is
Dr. William G. McManus, retired Director of Fine and Performing Arts for
the Belmont Public Schools.
