The Concord Band Performs Free Concert at Payson Park
CONCORD, MA, June 8, 2003 The Concord Band will perform a free
concert at Payson Park, Belmont on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 6:45
P.M. The concert will have something for everyone in the family. For the
youngster in the audience, and for those young at heart, the band will
perform the music from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Mary
Poppins. The band will perform crowd-pleasing marches, patriotic
standards, and even a polka. Concord Band trumpeter Jennifer Garcia of
Hanscom AFB will be the featured soloist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Music
of the Night. The Concord Band will also perform its version of The
Three Tenors. Bring the whole family to Payson Park for an summer evening
of musical entertainment! The rain date for this event is Thursday, June
19, 2003 at 6:45pm.
The Concord Band, founded in 1959, is one of the leading community
concert bands in the United States. It is well known for its innovative
programming and the exceptional quality of its commissioned pieces. It
presents both formal and Pops concerts throughout the year. Its summer
concerts at Fruitlands Museums in Harvard, Massachusetts, are attended by
more than 10,000 people each year.
The Concord Band's Music Director is Dr. William G. McManus, retired
Director of Fine and Performing Arts for the Belmont Public Schools.
