Outstanding Vocalists to Lead Concord Band Holiday Pops Tradition

Concord, Mass., November 19, 2008 — Celebrate the holiday season at the Concord Band's annual Holiday Pops concerts, to be held at 51 Walden St., Concord on December 12 and 13, 2008. Guest vocalists Suzanne McNeil (Friday night) and Amanda Carr (Saturday night) will perform several pieces with the Band and lead the audience holiday sing-along. Also on the program are Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music and seasonal favorites by Leroy Anderson in honor of the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth.

Singer-songwriter Suzanne McNeil will be making her debut with the Concord Band. She was born in Massachusetts, but grew up on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Suzanne is known for her soulful singing, her jazzy and folk-rock songwriting, and a powerful on-stage charisma. She is back living in Boston and maintains a busy performance schedule across New England.

Jazz vocalist Amanda Carr has appeared frequently with the Concord Band. A native of Hingham, Mass., she focuses on fresh interpretations of the Great American Songbook. She is currently starring in "A Tribute to Peggy Lee and Benny Goodman" with the Everett Longstreth Orchestra, traveling to various states and cities nationwide.

The concerts begin at 8:00 pm in The Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden Street in Concord. Table seating is available at $20 per person, $15 for children under 12. The Concord Band, founded in 1959, is one of the leading community concert bands in the United States. It is well known for its innovative programming and the exceptional quality of its commissioned pieces. It presents both formal and Pops concerts throughout the year.
